Look no further - this is an oasis in paradise. Calm, beautiful, quiet, friendly, artistic, comfortable… you will be planning your return before you even leave. Every room is different. The common areas are full of amazing art. The pool area is stellar.

I cannot accurately express how wonderful our stay was. The place is serene and beautiful, and the host was a true gem. I highly recommend Mayan Gypsy for couples traveling to Progreso who want beauty and serenity with a great location. I really loved our experience, and would return anytime.

The whole complex was equipped with many works of art. There was something new to discover every day. At the pool there were loungers and lots of seating and you could relax well due to the quietness in the complex.

The atmosphere cannot be beat. The art will stop you in your tracks as soon as you step inside. Every detail of this place is beautiful. So much thought has gone into all of it. I would absolutely stay here again and I likely will. The location is also perfect for walking to the boardwalk or right across the street to the path to the water. The pool area is also very peaceful. I highly recommend staying here.

The Mayan Gypsy was truly stunning. The artwork throughout was incredible, with every inch thoughtfully designed and beautifully detailed. Its location right next to the beach was such a bonus. The owner was absolutely wonderful—so kind, welcoming, and personable. She made us feel completely at home. We absolutely loved our experience there and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Mérida. I’m already looking forward to returning with more family!

Location is next to the beach , restaurant and entertainment. Chris was very helpful and informative. The whole house looks amazing, every room every corner is full of beauty and Art .The house decorations, make you feel like an atraditional Yucateca house . Very Clean and very cozy! I definitely recommend it to anybody that would like to have a real Yucatan experience! The place in is super quiet and peaceful. I would love to come back here. 💕

Absolutely beautiful. A stunning place that plays on all your senses. It does feel like part museum, part hacienda and part hotel. The online photos are a true reflection of the place. We had the large suite with kitchenette. It was one block from the beach and malecon. Highly recommend for short or long term stays.

Excellent place, amazing!! Beautiful, good vibe, clean, very good location, beautiful design and atmosphere, clean pool, good internet!!! I return safely to that place whenever I go to Progreso!!! 100% recommended!!!

A beautiful building with no details spared. Everything was super comfortable, clean, and thoughtful. I feel good doing ecotourism and staying in town in Progreso with services, rather than a beachfront house extending urban sprawl unnecessarily.

Stop scrolling and book! The Mayan Gypsy is stunning - the pictures do it no justice! The courtyard and the pool are beautiful and peaceful - you truly feel like you’re in a magical oasis. The rooms are large, the beds are comfy. The hosts truly thought of every detail including offering some toiletries, pool and bath towels and fresh drinking water. The shower is AMAZING!! It’s nice and hot and great water pressure! The location cannot be beat! You will be one block to the boardwalk where there are a lot of restaurants to choose from. Chris and Aly were more than happy to answer any questions we had and even offered recommendations for local bars. The place is very secure so there are no safety concerns. Truly cannot say enough about how wonderful this place and the hosts are! Thank you!!

This is one of the most beautiful Airbnbs we have ever stayed at. It is even more beautiful in person! Everyone there was helpful, responsive, and extremely friendly. This place is within walkable distance to the beach, no need for an Uber. Highly recommend it!

A truly fantastic stay at the Mayan Gypsy. The pictures online definitely do not do it any justice. Aly was phenomenal in providing information about local activities and transportation. Still in awe of all the artwork around the facility. It was purely an enjoyable place to chill and relax. I would highly recommend a stay at the Mayan Gypsy and can’t wait to go back!!

Denise (Vancouver, Canada)

My husband and I stayed five incredible days at the Mayan Gypsy. From the moment we entered, we saw it was a place of beauty. From the lush inner garden around the pool, to the inspiring original works of art and the eye catching wall hangings, the talent and artistry of Aly and Christoper was everywhere. Our room was spacious and airy. Aly was extremely helpful, offering to assist in any way that would make our stay more comfortable. We will recommend this lovely hotel to our friends and family for a soul nourishing retreat.

Wow, this location was truly amazing. As other reviews say, it's somehow even better than the pictures. The entire place was incredibly designed and felt like a hidden oasis inside its walls. The pool area was so relaxing with all the greenery, places to lounge, and soothing background music. We also were able to work in our room and down by the pool with strong Wifi and great seating areas. Aly the host was beyond helpful in giving us recommendations and arranging cars for us and making sure we had a good time. The room itself was perfect - great AC and amenities including drinking water and coffee. It is also close to the boardwalk and restaurants, though we hardly wanted to leave. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area and I hope to come back again!

An inspiring environment and really quiet atmosphere. The hosts gave me a very warm welcome and were helpful with any questions. At 1 minute from the beach and many nice restaurants at walking distance, this is really the place to be when staying in Progreso.

When I booked this hotel I knew we were going to be in for a real treat and I couldn't have been more right. Honestly everywhere you turn there is something interesting to look at. The hotel is ecclectic, charming and traditional all in one. Every detail you can tell was done with intention and heart. So, not only during your stay will you be surrounded by art, Mexican furnishings, plants, seashells & murals but you will also have a lovely, well-appointed room that is clean, comfortable and includes really everything you'll need (i.e. coffee, coffee maker, mini-fridge, towels for pool & shower, hot water, a fan, a/c and more). The pool area is stunningly beautiful & serene and there is a slight breeze that blows throughout the entire place that is welcome in the hot, humid beach temperatures. The hotel has street parking and you are literally steps from the beach (just across the road). The hotel is located just outside of Centro and the little town of Progreso is very walkable. The hosts are super personable, we felt like we became fast friends. I am super impressed by the design & love they put into the hotel. Entire staff was very nice and helpful. We will definitely be back!

Wow. Just wow. The Mayan Gipsy is a one-of-a-kind experience. The owners are amazing, and the pictures don’t do it justice at all. Of all the place I’ve stayed over the years—hotels or airbnbs—this is my favourite.
